2025 NY SW RTC Series: The New Design Manual


Course Description


This class reviews the 2023 DEC Stormwater Design Manual, which includes new stormwater management practices (SMPs), clarifies calculations for designing SMPs, provides enhanced guidance for implementing several SMPs, updates precipitation data criteria, improves document organization, provides enhanced guidance for addressing pollutants of concern, adds green infrastructure SMPs for poor site conditions, and provides guidance on addressing climate change.

John Dunkle, PE, CPESC, CMS4S


John has been a practicing civil engineer since 1981 and is a Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC) and a Certified Professional in Municipal Stormwater Management (CPMSM). John has prepared & reviewed Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), provided guidance for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), and participated with NYS DEC in the development of the current stormwater regulations and design manuals. John also teaches a graduate level Stormwater Management class at SUNY-Environmental Science & Forestry and has been conducting stormwater trainings across New York State for over 15 years. He has also been Planning Board Chairman for over 10 years in his hometown.
